Dr. Coyne, a nationally recognized adult educator in behavioral health, provides training and technical assistance to improve individual and organizational performance. His experience spans substance use, mental health, and criminal justice. He is recognized for his work helping individuals, organizations and states implement evidence-based assessments including the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria and evidenced-based treatment such as National Institute on Drug Abuse’s (NIDA’s) relapse prevention approach for opiate users.
Dr. Coyne received his M.S.W. from Adelphi University and his Ed.D. in Adult Education from Columbia University. This combination of education along with years of experience as a clinician and educator has honed his mission, Use Evidence-Based Adult Learning Practices to Implement Evidence-Based Treatment Practices and Turning Treatment Organizations into Learning Organizations.
Dr. Coyne has provided training and technical assistance to numerous projects, organizations, and states with funding from NIDA, NIAAA, ONDCP, SAMHSA/CSAT, NDCI, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
